The Kalachakra palace rises in nested square walls of blue, orange, white and black around a small centre, with a gateway topped by a tiered arch on each side and white offering figures on the courtyards.
Around it run rings of blue water, red and black bands carrying Kalachakra mantra syllables and dharma wheels, and a scroll-patterned rim, set on a sky-blue ground, with offerings of the senses in the corners: a conch, a mirror, fruit and cymbals.
This painting is one of a small set painted to the same design; each is painted by hand, so details differ slightly from piece to piece. The photo shows this piece.
