The Kalachakra palace rises in nested square walls around a small lotus at the centre, with a gateway topped by a tiered arch on each side, drawn entirely in gold-coloured line work on black.
Rings of gold-coloured waves, Kalachakra mantra syllables and dharma wheels surround it, and gold-coloured offerings of the senses fill the four corners: a conch, a mirror, a lotus with fruit and cymbals.
This painting is one of a small set painted to the same design; each is painted by hand, so details differ slightly from piece to piece. The photo shows this piece.
