Buddha Life Story Thangka – 53×68 cm, Classic Grade
Shakyamuni Buddha sits at the centre with his right hand touching the earth and a blue bowl in his left, his golden body and blue hair the only solid colour in a painting drawn in fine gold-coloured line work on black, framed by a dark arch topped by a garuda, with two standing Buddhas below his throne.
Scenes of his life fill the hills, palaces and rivers around him: a Buddha teaching among rows of Buddhas on clouds at the top, a standing Buddha in the clouds at the upper right, the prince riding out on horseback at the lower left and the Buddha fasting beneath a tree at the lower centre, inside a patterned border of dragons with a Dharma wheel in each corner.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Unmounted: it comes rolled, ready to frame or to have mounted.
Size: 53 × 68 cm (20.9 × 26.8 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.
