Shipping & Return

Dark Yama, crowned with skulls, grips the Wheel of Life in his hands, feet and jaws, painted in a muted, darkened palette of olive, black and gold-coloured line work.

The six realms of rebirth are crowded with tiny figures, houses and animals around the hub, a seated Buddha sits in a temple in each upper corner, and two figures lie beneath Yama's feet on a lotus base, inside a patterned border.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Unmounted: it comes rolled, ready to frame or to have mounted.

Size: 47 × 61 cm (18.5 × 24.0 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.

About Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life is held by Yama, lord of death. At its hub, a rooster, a snake and a pig stand for desire, anger and ignorance; around them are the six realms of rebirth and, on the rim, the twelve links of dependent origination. A Buddha outside the wheel points to the way out.

Also known as Riduk.
