Buddha Life Story Thangka – 52×65 cm, Fine Grade
Shakyamuni Buddha sits at the centre, touching the earth with his right hand and holding a bowl in his left, with two disciples standing beside his throne and snow lions, elephants and dragons rising in the clouds behind him.
Around him, roundels and scenes set among green hills tell the story of his life, from Queen Maya's dream of a white elephant at the upper left and his birth in the Lumbini grove, through his chariot ride from the palace, his years of fasting and the offering of milk-rice, to his enlightenment amid the armies of Mara at the lower right and his passing into nirvana at the lower centre.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 52 × 65 cm (20.5 × 25.6 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
