Wheel of Life Thangka – 45×55 cm, Master Grade
Orange Yama, three-eyed and crowned with skulls, grips the Wheel of Life in his hands, feet and jaws, amid gold-coloured flames on a dark ground.
At the hub, the animals of the three poisons circle; the six realms of rebirth are crowded with small figures, palaces and animals, a seated Buddha appears in a temple at the upper left and a standing Buddha at the upper right, all inside a richly patterned border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 45 × 55 cm (17.7 × 21.7 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

About Wheel of Life
The Wheel of Life is held by Yama, lord of death. At its hub, a rooster, a snake and a pig stand for desire, anger and ignorance; around them are the six realms of rebirth and, on the rim, the twelve links of dependent origination. A Buddha outside the wheel points to the way out.
Also known as Riduk.
