Mahasthamaprapta Thangka – 57×81 cm, Fine Grade · ET-2338
Mahasthamaprapta, white-skinned, sits cross-legged on a lotus of pink petals tipped with blue and green, his left hand raised at his heart and his right turned up beneath it, both with thumb and forefinger joined, a slender dark stem curving through the raised hand; he wears a tall crown of gold-coloured filigree, large hoop earrings, necklaces of gold-coloured flowers and robes patterned in gold-coloured line work.
A halo of dense gold-coloured filigree and an aureole of red and gold-coloured rays frame him, ringed by pink, red and blue peonies and small pale blue flowers with gold-coloured leaves, with a large pink peony rising above his crown.
Pink clouds fill the upper corners and the foot of the painting around a spray of flowers, on a deep red ground inside a dark border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 57 × 81 cm (22.4 × 31.9 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
