Mahasthamaprapta Thangka – 57×81 cm, Fine Grade · ET-2342
White Mahasthamaprapta sits on a lotus with his left hand raised at his heart, holding the stem of a dark lotus that opens beside his shoulder, and his right hand turned upward at his waist; he wears a gold-coloured jewelled crown, large hoop earrings and robes patterned in gold-coloured line work.
A halo of gold-coloured scrollwork and an aureole of yellow rays frame him against a deep blue ground drawn in dark red line with peonies, clouds and two dragons, with a blue wrathful face at the top and a jewelled gold-coloured ornament hanging above his head.
Below the lotus, a gold-coloured disc in a flame-shaped frame stands on a small lotus beside a lidded vase, inside a purple border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 57 × 81 cm (22.4 × 31.9 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
