Dukkar Thangka – 77×110 cm, Master Grade
Dukkar stands with a thousand white arms fanned out into a great halo around her, an eye drawn in each palm, her main face white with a third eye between a blue face and a red face, and a tall stack of small heads in red, yellow, white, green and blue rising above her jewelled crown.
Her main right hand is raised at her heart and her left holds an arrow and the long thin staff of a parasol that floats among the clouds at the top, her outer hands hold arrows and other implements, and rows of white feet at either side tread on crowds of grey figures and animals.
Golden Shakyamuni Buddha sits in the upper left corner and Green Tara in the upper right, and three blue-faced wrathful figures crowned with skulls stand along the bottom, with birds between them.
Painted in the black-and-gold style, the ground is filled with gold-coloured clouds and peonies, inside a lime-green border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 77 × 110 cm (30.3 × 43.3 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
Also in this painting: Shakyamuni Buddha; Green Tara
