Five Dhyani Buddhas Thangka – 114×52 cm, Fine Grade
The Five Dhyani Buddhas sit in a row on pink lotuses in the black-and-gold style: blue Akshobhya touching the earth, yellow Ratnasambhava in the gesture of giving, white Vairocana at the centre with his hands at his heart in the teaching gesture, red Amitabha in meditation holding a bowl and green Amoghasiddhi raising his right hand in the gesture of protection.
Each sits before a dark halo with a gold-coloured rim and an aureole of fine rays and scrollwork on a throne drawn in gold-coloured line work with small animals, with a pink or orange flower above, roundels of auspicious symbols between them, gold-coloured leaves on the black ground and blue clouds along the top.
Offerings of jewels and elephant tusks lie below each throne among gold-coloured hills and blue waves, inside a coral-red border.
