Kalachakra Mandala Thangka – 55×55 cm, Master Grade · MH-13163
The Kalachakra palace rises in nested square walls around a small centre, with a gateway topped by a tiered arch on each side, painted in a cool palette of greys, mauves, teal and gold-coloured line work.
Rings of grey waves, coloured Kalachakra mantra syllables and dharma wheels surround it, inside a gold-coloured scroll-patterned rim, on a pale grey ground shading to dark at the corners.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.

About Kalachakra Mandala
The Kalachakra ("Wheel of Time") mandala shows the palace of the deity Kalachakra from above: nested square walls with a gateway on each side, set inside rings of fire, vajras, water and mantra syllables. It is one of the most complex mandalas in Tibetan Buddhism, and its geometry follows strict rules handed down by painters for centuries.
