Lokeshwor Thangka – 69×100 cm, Master Grade
Eleven-headed, thousand-armed Chenrezig stands on a white moon disc on a pink lotus, his central hands joined at his heart around a clear jewel and others holding a crystal mala, a blue lotus and a small gold-coloured vase, with tiers of white, turquoise and red heads, a blue wrathful head and a small red Buddha head at the top, and a great disc of hands fanning out behind him.
White Tara and Green Tara sit on lotuses in the upper corners, with yellow Manjushri raising his sword at the lower left and blue Vajrapani in flames at the lower right.
A gold-coloured arched aureole set with jewels frames him against a red sky filled with blue clouds, with pink peonies, snow peaks, rivers and green hills on either side and an offering of jewels, coins and tusks below, inside a maroon border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 69 × 100 cm (27.2 × 39.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
Also in this painting: White Tara; Green Tara; Manjushri; Vajrapani
About Lokeshwor
Lokeshwor is the Nepali name for Avalokiteshvara, especially his eleven-headed, thousand-armed form. Each hand has an eye in its palm, so that he can see and reach all who suffer.
