Lokeshwor Thangka – 50×69 cm, Fine Grade
Eleven-headed, thousand-armed Lokeshwor stands on a white moon disc and a blue lotus, his main hands joined at his heart around a blue jewel and the circle of his many hands forming a white halo, his other hands holding a mala, a blue flower, a wheel, a bow and arrow and a vase, with a pink antelope skin over his shoulder and his heads rising in tiers of white, green and red to a wrathful blue head and a red Buddha at the top.
The Five Dhyani Buddhas, in blue, yellow, white, red and green, sit on clouds across the top; below, a golden bodhisattva holding a flower and a blue figure holding a small vase stand at either side.
The whole painting is worked in shades of blue, with snow peaks, clouds, peonies, trees and stepped hills around a pointed gold-coloured aureole set with red and blue jewels, and a jewel on a white lotus below, inside a red edge.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 50 × 69 cm (19.7 × 27.2 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

About Lokeshwor
Lokeshwor is the Nepali name for Avalokiteshvara, especially his eleven-headed, thousand-armed form. Each hand has an eye in its palm, so that he can see and reach all who suffer.
