Shipping & Return

The Kalachakra palace rises in nested square walls from a small lotus at the centre, with a gateway topped by a tiered arch on each side, surrounded by rings of water, mantra syllables and dharma wheels.

A great halo of zigzag rays in shades of blue, fading to pale turquoise, surrounds the circle on a dark brown ground, with an endless knot in each corner.

This painting is one of a small set painted to the same design; each is painted by hand, so details differ slightly from piece to piece. The photo shows this piece.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Unmounted: it comes rolled, ready to frame or to have mounted.

Size: 45 × 45 cm (17.7 × 17.7 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.

About Kalachakra Mandala

The Kalachakra ("Wheel of Time") mandala shows the palace of the deity Kalachakra from above: nested square walls with a gateway on each side, set inside rings of fire, vajras, water and mantra syllables. It is one of the most complex mandalas in Tibetan Buddhism, and its geometry follows strict rules handed down by painters for centuries.
