Mahakala Thangka – 54×72 cm, Fine Grade
Blue six-armed Mahakala, with three eyes, a crown of five skulls and dark green hair rising like flames, stands on a yellow elephant-headed figure lying on a lotus base, holding a curved knife and a skull cup crossed at his heart in his central hands.
His upper hands hold a skull mala and a trident and a lower left hand holds a noose; he wears an elephant skin across his back, a garland of severed heads and snakes as ornaments, against a great ring of orange flames.
Green and white clouds drift across a blue sky above, and below, on green ground, a three-sided offering vessel set with heads stands among fruit and flames, with a tiger and a lying figure at the lower left and another lying figure at the lower right, inside a red border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 54 × 72 cm (21.3 × 28.3 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
