Maitreya Buddha Thangka – 60×80 cm, Classic Grade
Golden Maitreya sits on a throne with both feet resting on a lotus of many-coloured petals, his hands at his heart in the teaching gesture holding the stems of two blue peonies that carry a vase and a small box at his shoulders, framed by a green halo with a red rim and a gold-coloured aureole set with jewels.
A red Buddha sits on a lotus at the top, with White Tara and Green Tara in the upper corners and four offering goddesses on clouds at the sides; Manjushri raises his sword at the lower left, and a wrathful blue deity sits in flames at the lower right.
His robes, the throne and the clouds are drawn in dense gold-coloured line work on a deep navy ground above green hills, with orange and pink peonies around him and an offering of jewels and tusks at the centre below, inside a light blue edge.
