Manjushri Thangka in Silk Brocade · MH-150
Golden Manjushri sits on a white moon disc and a lotus of many-coloured petals, raising a flaming blue sword in his right hand, his left hand at his heart in the teaching gesture holding the stem of a blue flower that carries a book at his shoulder, framed by an orange halo with a red rim and a blue aureole edged with gold-coloured scrollwork.
Five Buddhas in white, green, red, blue and yellow sit down the upper left, the white one with a white animal, the green one beside a red, blue-winged garuda and the blue one with a white elephant; golden stupas with painted eyes rise from white domes at the upper right, and a small green goddess and a white goddess sit on the right among peonies.
Across the base, a green many-armed deity in red flames, a yellow many-armed goddess and a wrathful blue deity standing on a prone figure amid flames sit on lotuses, with a mirror, a lute and fruit on a lotus at the lower left.
It is mounted in silk brocade.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
