Manjushri Thangka – 52×67 cm, Fine Grade
Yellow Manjushri sits on a blue lotus, raising in his right hand a sword drawn in fine gold-coloured line work, his left hand at his heart in the teaching gesture holding the stem of a blue lotus that carries a book at his left shoulder, wearing a jewelled crown and a robe patterned in fine gold-coloured line work.
Painted in the black-and-gold style, he is framed by a dark halo with a gold-coloured rim and an aureole of fine gold-coloured rays and scrollwork, with a gold-coloured dragon among blue clouds in each upper corner and pale pink peonies on either side.
Below, a wheel emblem rises on a blue lotus between gold-coloured hills, blue clouds and waves, above an offering of jewels and tusks, inside a red border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 52 × 67 cm (20.5 × 26.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
