Manjushri Thangka – 50×67 cm, Fine Grade
Orange Manjushri sits on a lotus with a white cushion, raising a dark blue flaming sword in his right hand and holding at his heart, with a white scarf, the stem of a blue lotus that carries a book beside his left shoulder, wearing a jewelled crown and green silk scarves, framed by a pale green halo and a gold-coloured aureole set with jewels.
Four more forms of Manjushri sit in haloes in the corners: a red Manjushri at the upper left, a blue Manjushri raising a sword at the upper right, a white Manjushri between blue lotuses at the lower left and a yellow Manjushri riding a white lion at the lower right.
Pink peonies and blue lotuses surround the central figure, with a cluster of jewels in flames on a pink peony above his halo, white and green clouds in a deep blue sky, snow peaks, green hills and rivers, and an offering of jewels and elephant tusks at the bottom centre.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 50 × 67 cm (19.7 × 26.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
