Five Manjushri Thangka – 62×81 cm, Fine Grade
Golden Manjushri sits on a blue lotus raising a sword in his right hand, its dark blade reaching across the aureole behind his head, his left hand at his heart holding the stem of a blue lotus that bears a book at his shoulder, framed by an aureole of gold-coloured scrollwork with small dragon heads.
Four smaller crowned figures sit on pink lotuses in the corners: a green one with his hands crossed at his heart at the upper left, a red four-armed one with his arms outstretched at the upper right, a white one with his right hand lowered in the gesture of giving at the lower left and a blue one raising a sword at the lower right.
Painted in the black-and-gold style, they sit among blue clouds, pink and orange peonies and gold-coloured leaves, with gold-coloured hills and blue water below and an offering of round jewels and tusks at the bottom centre, inside an olive-green border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 62 × 81 cm (24.4 × 31.9 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
