Medicine Buddha Thangka – 58×83 cm, Fine Grade
Blue Medicine Buddha sits on a lotus set on a blue throne with white elephants, his right hand reaching down over his knee with a fruiting stem and his left holding a blue bowl of fruit in his lap, his red robe patterned in fine gold-coloured line work, framed by an orange halo and a gold-coloured aureole between pink peonies.
Seven more Buddhas in red and orange robes sit on lotuses around him, three among the clouds above, two at his sides and two in the lower corners, with rainbow streamers arching over the upper pair.
Green hills, snow peaks and a river with lotuses fill the landscape under a dark blue-green sky, with an offering of jewels at the lower left and a conch and fruit on a table below the throne, inside a red border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 58 × 83 cm (22.8 × 32.7 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
