Medicine Buddha Thangka – 42×58 cm, Fine Grade
Blue Medicine Buddha sits cross-legged on a white moon disc and a lotus of orange petals edged in blue, his right hand resting on his knee in the gesture of giving and holding the stem of a flowering plant, his left hand in his lap holding a blue bowl of pink fruit with green leaves.
He wears orange robes patterned with gold-coloured flowers, framed by a turquoise halo, an aureole of fine gold-coloured rays on maroon and an outer gold-coloured aureole of red scrollwork set with jewels, with a pink lotus and leafy flowers rising above his halo.
Green hills, rocks and streams stretch under a sky that deepens from pale cream to blue with white clouds, and below his lotus a conch, a bowl of fruit and a mirror sit on a heap of round jewels, inside a red border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 42 × 58 cm (16.5 × 22.8 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
