Samantabhadra (Primordial Buddha) Thangka – 27×35 cm, Fine Grade
Blue Samantabhadra, the primordial Buddha, sits cross-legged on a lotus in union with his white consort, framed by a coral-rimmed green halo and a gold-coloured aureole.
Grey clouds drift across a slate-blue sky, a peony grows on the right and snow peaks rise on the left, and the lotus rests above blue waves with a golden flower below.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Unmounted: it comes rolled, ready to frame or to have mounted.
Size: 27 × 35 cm (10.6 × 13.8 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.
About Samantabhadra (Primordial Buddha)
In the Nyingma tradition, Samantabhadra is the primordial Buddha: deep blue and unadorned, often shown in union with his white consort Samantabhadri. The pair stand for the original, unconditioned nature of mind.
Also known as Samantabhadra.
