Saraswati, goddess of music and learning, sits on a lotus playing a vina, her long hair falling over her shoulders and green silk scarves swirling around her.

A gold-coloured aureole and a red-rimmed halo frame her against a landscape of snow peaks, waterfalls and a winding river.

Offering goddesses ride clouds in the upper corners, a lute player and a flute player stand on either side, and naga maidens rise from the river holding up conch shells and jewels; a seated monk with a text appears in the lower left corner.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Unmounted: it comes rolled, ready to frame or to have mounted.

Size: 58 × 83 cm (22.8 × 32.7 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.

Also in this painting: Offering goddesses, musicians, naga maidens, a seated monk
