Shakyamuni Buddha sits on a lotus, his right hand touching the earth and his left holding a blue alms bowl in his lap, his orange robe patterned in gold-coloured line work, framed by a green halo and a gold-coloured aureole set with jewels.

A pink peony blooms above his halo and orange peonies on either side, clouds drift across a deep blue sky, snow peaks rise above blue water at the sides, and a mirror on a stand, coral, jewels and elephant tusks are set out on the green hills below.

It is mounted in maroon brocade with red and cream inner borders, red ribbons and a golden-yellow cover.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Mounted in silk brocade, overall .

In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.
