Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka – 52×67 cm, Classic Grade
Shakyamuni Buddha sits on a blue lotus in the black-and-gold style, his right hand touching the earth and his left resting in his lap holding a bowl, his robe patterned all over in gold-coloured line work.
A dark halo and an aureole of fine gold-coloured rays inside an arch of scrollwork frame him, with a pink lotus rising above his head and grey peonies at either side.
Roundels holding auspicious symbols, among them a dharma wheel, a vase, a conch and an endless knot, sit among blue-edged clouds above, and gold-coloured hills, blue waves and a jewel marked with a swirl fill the ground below, with an offering of jewels and tusks at the bottom, inside a grey-blue border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 52 × 67 cm (20.5 × 26.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
