Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka – 74×99 cm, Fine Grade
Shakyamuni Buddha sits on a pink lotus, his right hand touching the earth and his left holding a dark blue bowl in his lap, his red-brown robe patterned in gold-coloured flowers and key patterns, framed by a red-orange halo and an aureole of fine rays inside a gold-coloured border set with jewels, among pink peonies.
Four-armed Chenrezig, red Amitabha holding a bowl and Padmasambhava sit in haloes among clouds above him, and two disciples, each holding a staff and a bowl, stand on lotuses in rayed haloes in the lower corners.
Green hills, snow peaks and a river fill the landscape under a blue sky, with offerings of jewels, a flaming jewel, a conch, a vase and fruit at the centre below, inside a red border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
