Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka – 60×81 cm, Fine Grade
Shakyamuni Buddha sits cross-legged on a blue lotus, touching the earth with his right hand and holding a bowl in his left, in robes patterned in gold-coloured line work, framed by a black halo ringed with gold-coloured flame points and scrollwork and an aureole of fine gold-coloured rays.
A red Buddha holding a bowl sits in meditation on clouds in the upper left corner and blue Medicine Buddha, holding a bowl, in the upper right; below, two monks holding staffs stand on pink lotuses at either side, framed by brown aureoles.
Painted in the black-and-gold style, gold-coloured branches, pink and peach peonies and blue clouds fill the dark sky above gold-coloured hills and blue waves, with a row of coloured jewels and tusks at the centre below, inside an olive-green edge.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 60 × 81 cm (23.6 × 31.9 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
