Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka – 71×96 cm, Fine Grade
Shakyamuni Buddha sits on a pink lotus, his right hand touching the earth and his left holding a dark blue bowl in his lap, his robe densely patterned in gold-coloured line work, framed by an orange halo and an aureole of gold-coloured rays inside a band of gold-coloured scrollwork set with red and blue jewels.
Four-armed Chenrezig sits at the upper left, red Amitabha holding a bowl at the top centre and Padmasambhava at the upper right, each on a lotus among clouds; below, the two chief disciples stand on lotuses at either side, holding staffs and bowls.
Pink and orange peonies frame the aureole, snow peaks and green hills fill the landscape under a blue sky with white clouds, and at the foot an offering of jewels, a flaming jewel, a vase and flowers stands with a mirror, a conch and a bowl of fruit before it, inside a dark red border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 71 × 96 cm (28.0 × 37.8 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
