Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka – 52×67 cm, Fine Grade · MH-5999
Shakyamuni Buddha sits on a lotus, his right hand touching the earth and his left holding a dark blue alms bowl in his lap, his robe covered in fine gold-coloured patterns, framed by a green halo edged in gold-coloured patterning, an aureole of fine dark rays and a gold-coloured outer aureole of scrollwork.
Two monks stand on lotuses at his sides, each holding a staff and a bowl.
Pink lotuses and peonies grow on either side, a tree with blossoms rises at the upper right and gold-coloured clouds float above, against a red-brown ground that darkens toward the top, with flaming jewels and tusks on either side of a plant growing from water below, inside a yellow border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 52 × 67 cm (20.5 × 26.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
