Tibetan Astrology Calendar Thangka – 48×67 cm, Classic Grade · MH-9221
A Tibetan astrology chart on a bright yellow ground: a fierce orange face crowned with three jewels at the top, spotted limbs at the sides and orange hands holding staffs below frame a great wheel ringed with red flames, with the twelve animals of the zodiac around the eight trigrams and a central square of nine coloured squares marked with numerals.
Across the top sit the Kalachakra ten-syllable monogram in flames, wrathful blue Vajrapani, golden Manjushri raising his sword, four-armed Chenrezig and a square of nine coloured panels of script, with a crescent moon and a sun in the sky, and stacked trigram towers stand at either side.
Two more round charts of script and trigrams fill the bottom, with a crescent moon, an eye, a red hand, a ritual dagger, an arrow, a knotted cord and a bird's head between them on green hills, and jewels in flames in the lower corners, inside a blue border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 48 × 67 cm (18.9 × 26.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
Also in this painting: Vajrapani; Manjushri; Chenrezig
