Tsongkhapa Thangka – 43×55 cm, Fine Grade
Tsongkhapa sits cross-legged on a white moon disc and a lotus of many-coloured petals, wearing a yellow pointed hat and orange robes patterned in gold-coloured line work, his hands at his heart in the teaching gesture holding the stems of two pink lotuses.
The lotuses open at his shoulders, carrying a flaming blue sword on his right and a book on his left, against a pale green halo, a blue aureole of fine rays and an outer gold-coloured aureole of red scrollwork set with red and blue jewels, inside a faint rainbow.
His lotus rises from blue waves among green hills, with blue-green trees, orange peonies and pink and brown clouds in a blue sky, and at the lower left a heap of round jewels in blue, green and maroon, a flame behind the topmost, beside bowls of offerings and a pair of tusks.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 43 × 55 cm (16.9 × 21.7 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
