White Vairocana sits on a pink lotus with four faces, one in profile at his right and two overlapping at his left, his hands joined in meditation holding a dark flame-shaped emblem with a swirl at its centre, wearing a jewelled crown and a robe patterned in fine gold-coloured line work.

Painted in the black-and-gold style, he sits before a gold-coloured halo and an aureole of fine rays and scrollwork, among flowering branches and pink lotus buds, with blue clouds in the upper corners and an orange cloud at the top.

Gold-coloured hills and blue waves fill the ground below, with heaps of jewels and tusks at either side and a blue peony bearing jewels at the centre, inside an ochre border.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.

Size: 50 × 66 cm (19.7 × 26.0 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
