White Tara sits on a lotus with eyes on her forehead, palms and soles, her right hand resting on her knee in the gesture of giving and her left at her heart holding the stem of a blue flower that opens beside her shoulder, framed by a pale olive-green halo and an aureole of fine dark rays inside a gold-coloured scrolled rim.

Five Buddhas in white, blue, red, yellow and green sit on lotuses among the clouds above her, golden Manjushri raising a flaming sword, with a book on a lotus at his shoulder, sits at the lower left, and blue Vajrapani stands in red flames at the lower right.

A snow peak, olive and brown hills and a waterfall fill the landscape under a brown sky, with an offering of jewels, a conch and tusks at the centre below, inside a red border.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.

Size: 58 × 81 cm (22.8 × 31.9 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

Also in this painting: the five Buddhas; Manjushri; Vajrapani
