Vajrapani Thangka in Silk Brocade – 45×60 cm, Classic Grade
Vajrapani, wrathful and dark blue, stands in a lunging pose on a yellow sun disc and lotus atop a golden rock, raising a gold-coloured vajra in his right hand and holding a noose in his left, with three eyes, a crown of skulls, snakes as ornaments and a tiger skin around his waist.
A great ring of orange flames rises behind him against a deep blue sky with clouds in the upper corners and green hills below, and in front of the rock a skull cup heaped with offerings rests on three skulls between jewels, coral and elephant tusks.
It is mounted in navy blue brocade with red and cream inner borders, red ribbons and a golden-yellow cover.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Mounted in silk brocade. Painting 45 × 60 cm (17.7 × 23.6 in), overall 93 × 124 cm.
In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.
