Yamantaka Thangka – 86×125 cm, Master Grade
Blue-black Yamantaka stands in a wide stance with a horned buffalo head and three eyes, more wrathful heads above it topped by a small peaceful face, dozens of arms fanned out on both sides holding weapons, and many legs, embracing his consort as he holds up a skull cup.
Painted in black and gold-coloured line work with blue and silver-white highlights, he stands on a lotus over a crowd of small figures and animals, inside a great mass of gold-coloured flames.
Tsongkhapa sits at the top centre between four smaller figures on clouds, with Guhyasamaja in union with his consort at the upper left and Chakrasamvara with his red consort at the upper right; wrathful protectors stand in flames down both sides and along the bottom, among gold-coloured and silver-white clouds, inside a blue border.

Yamantaka, "destroyer of death", is the wrathful form of Manjushri. He has a buffalo head, many arms and legs, and is often shown in union with his consort, trampling figures that stand for death and ignorance.
