Yellow Jambhala sits on a jewelled throne in the Newar style, holding a jewel-spitting mongoose in his left hand and a jewel in his right, his right foot stepping down onto a white conch on a blue lotus, wearing a tall crown, heavy jewellery and a robe of gold-coloured patterning, framed by a red halo inside an arch of white elephants, white lions, pink sea creatures and gold-coloured scrollwork, topped by a garuda holding two serpent-tailed nagas.

Six Buddhas sit in arches across the top, and rows of crowned figures in green, yellow, blue, red and white sit down both sides of the deep blue ground; a golden goddess stands at the lower left and a white goddess at the lower right, with a blue lotus and two blue birds beneath the throne, inside a maroon border.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Unmounted: it comes rolled, ready to frame or to have mounted.

Size: 66 × 83 cm (26.0 × 32.7 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

In the box: the painting, rolled (never folded) in a strong tube.

Also in this painting: Six Buddhas, Garuda, two goddesses
