Chenrezig Thangka – 51×67 cm, Fine Grade
White four-armed Chenrezig sits on a large coral-red lotus with two hands joined at his heart holding a jewel, his upper right hand raised and his upper left holding the stem of a blue lotus, wearing a gold-coloured crown set with red and blue flowers, a long string of dark beads and an antelope skin over his left shoulder.
A green halo edged in gold-coloured scrollwork, a blue aureole of gold-coloured rays and an outer aureole of gold-coloured scrollwork set with jewels frame him, among red peonies, pink lotus buds and green leaves on a ground that shades from black at the top to peach behind the lotus.
Panels of gold-coloured scrollwork run around the edges with a red lotus in each corner, and below the seat an offering of jewels and elephant tusks rests in a bowl on a red flower, on dark green ground inside an orange border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 51 × 67 cm (20.1 × 26.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
