Green Tara Thangka in Silk Brocade – 45×60 cm, Fine Grade
Green Tara sits on a pink lotus with her right foot stepping down onto a small blue lotus, her right hand at her knee in the gesture of giving and her left at her heart, between two tall blue flowers, framed by a dark blue halo and a gold-coloured aureole set with jewels.
Her robes, the hills and the trees are drawn in fine gold-coloured line work on dark teal beneath a maroon sky with blue clouds; a golden Buddha, red Amitayus among orange peonies and the blue Medicine Buddha sit across the top, and a golden and a blue attendant stand on blue lotuses below, on either side of a dharma wheel and jewel on a lotus.
It is mounted in navy blue brocade with maroon-red and silver-grey inner borders, red ribbons and a gold-coloured cover.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas. Mounted in silk brocade. Painting 45 × 60 cm (17.7 × 23.6 in), overall 99 × 130 cm.
