Green Tara Thangka – 71×100 cm, Master Grade
Green Tara sits on a pink lotus, her right leg stepping down and her right hand lowered in the gesture of giving, holding the stem of a pink lotus, her left hand at her heart holding another stem, wearing a jewelled crown, large gold-coloured hoop earrings, orange silk scarves, a white sash and a pale blue lower robe patterned in gold-coloured line work.
Five Buddhas in blue, yellow, white, red and green sit on lotuses among the clouds above her, a white goddess holding a lotus stem sits at the lower left and Saraswati plays a vina at the lower right.
An orange halo and a gold-coloured aureole set with red and blue jewels frame her against fine gold-coloured rays, surrounded by pink lotuses and green leaves, with snow peaks and white clouds in a blue sky and a bowl of jewels and tusks on a lotus above a stream below, inside a maroon border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 71 × 100 cm (28.0 × 39.4 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
Also in this painting: Saraswati
