Red Amitabha Buddha sits in meditation at the centre on a lotus, holding a blue bowl in his lap, with a blue halo and an aureole of fine gold-coloured rays, inside a gold-coloured roundel ringed by blue scrollwork.

Around him, the eight auspicious symbols are drawn in white line work among blue lotus petals, and rings of gold-coloured mantra script circle out across a disc that shades from red to black, closed by a rim of gold-coloured scrollwork.

Pink and blue flowers with gold-coloured leaves fill the four black corners, inside a red-orange border.

Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.

Size: 56 × 56 cm (22.0 × 22.0 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →

About Mantra Mandala

A mantra mandala arranges the syllables of a mantra, most often Om Mani Padme Hum, in rings around a central seed syllable. Each ring is lettered by hand, and the finest are painted in fine gold-coloured script on black.
