Manjushri Mantra Mandala Thangka – 56×56 cm, Fine Grade
At the centre, yellow Manjushri sits on a pink lotus, raising a blue flaming sword in his right hand and holding at his heart the stem of a pink lotus that opens at his left shoulder, framed by an orange halo and a rayed aureole edged with gold-coloured scrollwork between blue and pink rocks, with a bowl of jewels below.
The eight auspicious symbols, among gold-coloured scrollwork on red and dark blue, circle him inside a band of red motifs on dark blue, and rings of gold-coloured mantra script circle out across a ground that shades from red to dark brown.
A broad rim of gold-coloured scrollwork closes the circle, with pink and green peonies drawn in white line work in the four dark blue corners, inside an orange border.
Hand-painted in Nepal on cotton canvas.
Size: 56 × 56 cm (22.0 × 22.0 in), including the painted border. Hand-painted, so allow ±1–2 cm. Size guide →
About Mantra Mandala
A mantra mandala arranges the syllables of a mantra, most often Om Mani Padme Hum, in rings around a central seed syllable. Each ring is lettered by hand, and the finest are painted in fine gold-coloured script on black.
